“I try to make all my sets as diverse and unique as possible while still keeping in flow with the party and atmosphere. I don’t produce so 100% of my creative juices are focused on providing DJ sets that really stand out.” – Sebastian Wild

Well known through out New Zealand for his technical wizardry, Sebastian has spent more than a decade crafting an exquisite sound that is comprised of deep lush sounds, tight grooves, uplifting synths and driving baselines. To pigeonhole him into a genre or particular set time would be near impossible. The core of his philosophy and musical ethos is that true DJing is an art form.

The early days for Sebastian began as a teenager growing up in Christchurch. He secured his first set at legendary local nightclub Base, at the age of only 15. Soon after he launched his own all-age night, Nitrate. In the years to follow, Nitrate parties became the hallmark of a thriving all-age scene that influenced a new wave of dance music enthusiasts in the city.

By the time he reached of legal age to play R18 events, his bookings diary became filled with a host of international supports, residencies and national dates. By the age of 22, he had appeared on line-ups for nearly every major event and festival across the country including Gods Kitchen, Hed Kandi, Summerdayze, Solstice, Rhythm & Vines, Slinky and Fevah to name but a few.

Not content with simply gracing the decks at others events, in 2010 Sebastian launched the Half Wild brand with a seven stop nationwide tour. Created to expose talented DJs pushing boundaries, the brand cut through the clutter of low quality commercial “edm” nights and pushed a purely underground sound. By late 2011, Half Wild had achieved three nationwide tours. He additionally launched a podcast syndicated to iTunes and radio stations across the country, regularly featuring guests from across the globe.

In early 2012, Sebastian relocated to Melbourne and was quickly picked up by several promoters. Fast-forward 18-months and he’s a regular feature for The Breakfast Club, Equal Dose and the prestigious Darkbeat parties. Supports across the ditch already include the likes of Nic Fanciulli, Guy J, Anthony Pappa, M.A.N.D.Y, Sharam, Jody Wisternoff, D-Nox, Maxxi Soundsystem, King Unique, Luis Junior, Hybrid plus many more.

Usually found next to a plethora of technical gadgetry, as his career has evolved, so to have the instruments used to perform. A true master of the EFX1000, this unit gave way to a passion for effects that add a personalised touch to every set.  Coupled with units like the RMX1000 and X1 controllers, no set of Sebastian’s is ever the same. Finally, tie in a hint of scratching with the ability to truly engage a crowd and you’ve got a DJ who is guaranteed to turns heads and get people moving.
